Rosatom’s first uranium-plutonium fuel for VVER reactors was REMIX fuel – its pilot operation was successfully completed at the Balakovo in March.

Rolls-Royce SMR was selected as the UK government's preferred technology for the country's first small modular reactor (SMR) project in June last year, and GBP2.6 billion was allocated in the 2025 Spending Review to enable this contract and wider programme delivery.

Rosatom is already developing the lunar NPP. A prototype of the system, called “Selena”, will be ready by 2032, the President of the Kurchatov Institute, Mikhail Kovalchuk, told a scientific conference at the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

Russia and Vietnam have existing nuclear technology links, notably with the development of plans for a Centre for Nuclear Science and Technology in Vietnam, which includes a Russian‑designed research reactor.

Once it is fully operational, the plant will generate approximately 17.2 billion kWh per year, about 14% of Uzbekistan's total energy requirements.

The Russian state nuclear corporation has "extensive experience collaborating with Brazil in the nuclear fuel cycle, primarily in the supply of enriched uranium for fuel production at the Angra Nuclear Power Plant, as well as services for the conversion of Brazilian uranium. The signed agreement lays the foundation for expanding this partnership".

Germany, like other countries, wanted to keep its industrial base, and it needed to have competitive energy prices to help that happen,

Rosatom Director General Alexey Likhachev said: “On 17 March, an attack was carried out on the territory adjacent to the metrological service building, located at the industrial site of the Bushehr NPP in close proximity to the existing power unit. There were no injuries among Rosatom staff. The radiation situation on the site is normal.”

Accident tolerant fuel (ATF) is a term used to describe new technologies that enhance the safety and performance of nuclear fuel. ATF may incorporate the use of new materials and designs for cladding and fuel pellets.
