Today Russia’s 11 nuclear plants operate 38 units with a total installed capacity of over 30.5GW. The share of nuclear generation in the total electricity generation in Russia is 20.6% as of mid-2021. In the European part of the country this rises to 30%, and in the North-West to 37%.

Gazprom and Moldovagaz extended the contract for Russian gas supplies to consumers in the Republic of Moldova from November 1, 2021, for a period of five years on mutually beneficial terms.

On Tuesday, Moldova received a million cubic meters of gas from Poland in a move aimed at diversifying its energy supply following years of strong Russian influence over the small European nation of 3.5 million people.

Kremlin-controlled Gazprom cut supplies to Moldova by one-third last month following the end of a long-term contract and demanded more than double the previous terms to keep gas flowing.

"For example," said Grabchak, "a project for the construction of a Primorsky nuclear power plant is being worked out today." He did not give any further details, but said that President Vladimir Putin had instructed officials to update plans for both nuclear and hydro development by the end of this year.

Known as ROSA-N, the new model was developed by scientists in Rosatom's Proryv (Breakthrough) project, which works towards deployment of fast reactors and a closed nuclear fuel cycle.

A meeting of the joint working group of Gazprom and the Government of Mongolia on the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding regarding the project for pipeline gas supplies from Russia to China across Mongolia took place today in Ulan-Bator, Mongolia.

Speaking to the conference on 13 October, Putin said, "Russia will take practical action to ensure the carbon neutrality of its economy, and we have set a specific benchmark: no later than 2060."

Gazprom’s gas supplies to Turkey soared by 125.3% year-on-year between Jan. 1-Oct. 15, the data showed, while exports to Germany and Italy were up 28.2% and 16.3.% from a year ago, respectively.
