"ADNOC will deploy capital, technology, and expertise to develop and produce shallow gas resources and conduct further exploration to assess further volumes and firm up development costs," it said Monday in a statement.

Under the agreement, Masdar will develop, build and operate the 200MW solar PV project, which will be located 75 kilometres southwest of the capital, Baku. Financial close on the project is targeted for the end of 2020, while commercial operation is expected to be achieved in 2022.

Dr. Nawal Al Hosany, Permanent Representative of the UAE to the International Renewable Energy Agency, IRENA, has said that the UAE’s contributions to the renewable energy sector have made it a model to follow, with investments worth US$12 billion covering 49 renewable energy projects across 25 countries, producing some 4GW of energy supplies to communities.
