Gazprom and Moldovagaz extended the contract for Russian gas supplies to consumers in the Republic of Moldova from November 1, 2021, for a period of five years on mutually beneficial terms.

Amid strong demand, Gazprom has substantially expanded its gas production: over the past 9.5 months of 2021, it went up by 56.7 billion cubic meters (or 16.6 per cent) against the same period of last year.

The Company's work in this promising direction will make it possible to strengthen the position of Gazprom in foreign markets and address in a more flexible manner the tasks related to providing reliable gas supplies to domestic consumers.

Kremlin-controlled Gazprom cut supplies to Moldova by one-third last month following the end of a long-term contract and demanded more than double the previous terms to keep gas flowing.

Gazprom’s gas supplies to Turkey soared by 125.3% year-on-year between Jan. 1-Oct. 15, the data showed, while exports to Germany and Italy were up 28.2% and 16.3.% from a year ago, respectively.

Russia has repeatedly said that the early launch of Nord Stream 2 would help ease the current high gas prices in Europe, which have soared in recent weeks on intensifying concerns over winter gas supply amid lower-than-expected Russian deliveries.

Gazprom increased gas supplies to Turkey (+138.3 per cent), Germany (+33.2 per cent), Italy (+14.2 per cent), Romania (+305.6 per cent), Serbia (+125.2 per cent), Poland (+11.2 per cent), Bulgaria (+52.5 per cent), Greece (+10.8 per cent), and Finland (+17.5 per cent).

Hungary and Croatia started receiving Russian natural gas via a new route: the gas is supplied by the TurkStream gas pipeline and further across the national gas transmission systems of Bulgaria, Serbia, and Hungary.
