The Biden-Harris Administration, through the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), today announced up to $47 million in funding to accelerate the research, development, and demonstration (RD&D) of affordable clean hydrogen technologies.

DOE also released an RFI seeking input on nearly $9 billion for the Home Energy Rebate Program, funded by President Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act that will provide record breaking funding to help Americans cut energy costs in their homes through energy efficiency and electrification of home appliances and equipment.

The deal is also intended to support Vietnam’s new target of accelerating the peaking of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions to 2030 (from 2035 previously) and reducing its peak annual power sector emissions by up to 30%, to 170 MtCO2eq from 240 MtCO2eq.

The programs, funded with $3.7 billion from President Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, will help accelerate private-sector investment, spur advancements in monitoring and reporting practices for carbon management technologies, and provide grants to state and local governments to procure and use products developed from captured carbon emissions.
