The rapid reduction of emissions necessary to cope with climate change will have a huge impact on Vietnam’s energy industry, and is possibly closely linked to short-term policies to develop new and renewable energy sources,

Greece, aiming for renewables to account for 61% of final electricity consumption by 2030 from 29% last year, wants to shorten its permitting process to about two to three years.

Solar and wind currently account for less than 1% of the country’s installed capacity, with 4 MW and 1 MW, respectively.

Around 80% of this is expected to come from the private sector, with debt financing growing to a 60% share within that, IRENA deputy director-general Gauri Singh said.

"I can confirm to you we will launch new projects on all types of energies especially renewable energy and hydrogen. We clearly want to be hand in hand in the fight against climate change."

Abu Dhabi’s sovereign fund Mubadala will not change its investment strategy in 2022, keeping a focus on renewables, technology, and life sciences, its CEO Khaldoon Khalifa Al-Mubarak said.

Under the provision, India's power distribution companies will not have to make separate PPAs for selling renewable power, which is cheaper than some other sources of power, and more profitable.

"The partnership between ADNOC and TAQA envisages both parties entering into detailed joint venture arrangements as well as the completion of necessary transaction requirements, including obtaining relevant third-party and regulatory approvals," the companies said in the statement.
