NATURAL GAS EXPORT UP

U.S. DEFICIT DOWN TO $101.5 BLN
U.S. BEA - The U.S. current-account deficit decreased to $101.5 billion (preliminary) in the second quarter of 2018 from $121.7 billion (revised) in the first quarter of 2018, according to statistics released by the Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA). The deficit was 2.0 percent of current-dollar gross domestic product (GDP) in the second quarter, down from 2.4 percent in the first quarter.

GERMANY'S LNG TERMINAL
REUTERS - Germany will chose where to build a liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal by the end of 2018 as a gesture to the United States which wants to ship more gas to Europe, the economy minister said.

RIO TINTO BUYBACK: $3.2 BLN
RIO TINTO - The proceeds will be returned through a $3.2 billion share buy-back programme (the “Programme”), combining an off-market buy-back tender targeting up to 41.2 million Rio Tinto Limited shares (approximately A$2.7 billion ($1.9 billion )) and further on-market purchases of Rio Tinto plc shares. The Programme is subject to market conditions and compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.

OIL PRICE: NEAR $79 AGAIN
REUTERS -Brent crude futures LCOc1 were up 2 cents at $79.05 a barrel by 0854 GMT, having gained 1.3 percent on Tuesday following media reports that Saudi Arabia, the world’s largest oil exporter, was comfortable with prices above $80. U.S. crude futures CLc1 were up 15 cents at $70.00, after gaining 1.4 percent the day before.

OIL PRICES: $70 - $80
PLATTS - Current global oil prices at around $70-80/b are due to the volatile situation on the market and include a premium for risks associated with sanctions and oil supply cuts, but they are expected to fall to around $50/b in the long term, Russian energy minister Alexander Novak said Tuesday.
