The Freeport LNG liquefaction terminal comprises three trains with an annual production capacity of approximately 15.45 Mt/year, built by McDermott, Zachry and Chiyoda on the site of an existing LNG import terminal.

Under the provision, India's power distribution companies will not have to make separate PPAs for selling renewable power, which is cheaper than some other sources of power, and more profitable.

"The partnership between ADNOC and TAQA envisages both parties entering into detailed joint venture arrangements as well as the completion of necessary transaction requirements, including obtaining relevant third-party and regulatory approvals," the companies said in the statement.

Egypt targets 20% of electricity production from renewables in 2022 (10% achieved in 2020) and 42% for 2030, with 25% from solar, 14% from wind, and 2% from hydropower.
