Oil imports from Russia rose 16% to 7.72 million tons last month, a volume topped only by Saudi Arabia, according to Chinese customs data.

They focused on prospects for implementing the initiative to create a major gas hub in Turkiye. The President of Russia voiced this initiative in October, and Recep Tayyip Erdogan supported it.

They reaffirmed mutual interest in continuing close coordination in the energy sector to ensure the necessary balance and stability in the global gas market, among other things.

Brent had edged lower by 13 cents or 0.1% to $89.65 a barrel, WTI rose 13 cents, or 0.2%, to $81.77 a barrel.
