BRITAIN'S RENEWABLE 33%
Renewable energy sources generated approximately 33 per cent of Great Britain’s electricity over the first quarter of 2019, according to new figures published by energy consultancy EnAppSys, with wind energy accounting for over 60% of renewable generation.

TURKEY, GERMANY RENEWABLE
To further explore opportunities for bilateral energy expansion, Turkish Energy and Natural Resources Minister Fatih Dönmez and German Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy Peter Altmaier met in Ankara for the second Turkish-German Energy Forum in October last year to sign a letter of intent to enhance the Turkish-German energy partnership.

U.S. ENERGY CONSUMPTION UP 4%
U.S. EIA - Primary energy consumption in the United States reached a record high of 101.3 quadrillion British thermal units (Btu) in 2018, up 4% from 2017 and 0.3% above the previous record set in 2007. The increase in 2018 was the largest increase in energy consumption, in both absolute and percentage terms, since 2010.

NORWAY'S RENEWABLE INVESTMENT $14 BLN
The Government is allowing for the Government Pension Fund Global to be invested in unlisted renewable energy infrastructure under the dedicated environmental mandates. Such investments shall be subject to the same profitability and transparency requirements as the other investments of the Fund, says Siv Jensen, Minister of Finance.

RENEWABLE IS A THIRD
The decade-long trend of strong growth in renewable energy capacity continued in 2018 with global additions of 171 gigawatts (GW), according to new data released by the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) today. The annual increase of 7.9 per cent was bolstered by new additions from solar and wind energy, which accounted for 84 per cent of the growth. A third of global power capacity is now based on renewable energy.

JERA Co, Japan’s biggest power generation company, plans to increase its renewable energy investment to 5 gigawatts (GW) of capacity by 2025, up from 650 megawatts now and an increase over an earlier target of 3 GW, it said on Tuesday

BRITAIN'S RENEWABLE UP 11.8%
CT - Provisional figures published by the UK Government on Thursday show that renewable energy sources generated a record amount of electricity in 2018, increasing by 11.8% over 2017 levels, led by a record year for wind energy generation which provided 17.1% of the UK’s electricity.
