U.S., VENEZUELA SANCTIONS
EIA - Recently announced U.S. sanctions directed at Venezuela’s energy sector and state oil company, Petróleos de Venezuela, S.A. (PDVSA), will essentially eliminate U.S. imports of Venezuelan crude oil as the full effects of the sanctions emerge. However, the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) does not anticipate any significant decrease in U.S. refinery runs as a result of these sanctions.

U.S. DEFICIT $49.3 BLN
U.S. BEA - The U.S. Census Bureau and the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis announced that the goods and services deficit was $49.3 billion in November, down $6.4 billion from $55.7 billion in October, revised.

U.S. URANIUM PRODUCTION DOWN
EIA - U.S. production of uranium concentrate (U3O8) in the fourth quarter of 2018 was 345,425 pounds, down 35% from the third quarter of 2018 and down 45% from the fourth quarter of 2017. During the fourth quarter of 2018, U.S. uranium was produced at six U.S. uranium facilities, one fewer than in the third quarter of 2018.

TOTAL NET INCOME $13.6 BLN UP 28%
TOTAL - Benefiting from the rise of oil prices to $71/b on average in 2018 compared to $54/b in 2017, while remaining volatile, the Group reported adjusted net income of $13.6 billion in 2018, an increase of 28%, a return on average capital employed close to 12%, the highest among the majors, and a pre-dividend breakeven below 30 $/b.

NOV VARCO NET LOSS $31 MLN
NOV - National Oilwell Varco, Inc. (NYSE: NOV) reported fourth quarter 2018 revenues of $2.40 billion, an increase of 11 percent compared to the third quarter of 2018 and an increase of 22 percent from the fourth quarter of 2017. Operating profit for the fourth quarter of 2018 was $87 million, or 3.6 percent of sales, Adjusted EBITDA (operating profit excluding depreciation, amortization, and other items) was $279 million, or 11.6 percent of sales, and net income was $12 million. Operating profit increased 19 percent sequentially, and Adjusted EBITDA increased 14 percent sequentially and 42 percent compared to the fourth quarter of 2017. Other items totaled $21 million, pre-tax, and were primarily related to charges associated with the closure of one of the Company’s facilities.

OIL PRICE: NEAR $62
REUTERS - U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures were at $53.74 per barrel at 0153 GMT, up 8 cents from their last settlement. They closed down 1.7 percent on Tuesday. International Brent crude oil futures were at $62.05 per barrel, up 7 cents, after closing down 0.8 percent in the previous session.
