The ITER International Fusion Energy Organisation has awarded a EUR200 million (USD218 million) contract for the Tokamak Assembly (TAC2) to Dynamic. The operation will mostly be performed at the ITER site in Cadarache, France with the engineering and manufacturing support of Dynamic's founding companies - Ansaldo Nucleare, Endel Engie, Orys Group ORTEC, SIMIC, Leading and Ansaldo Energia.

The E-Fusion Initiative aims at bringing together the French nuclear supply chain and Emirati companies around projects for the UAE Peaceful Nuclear Energy Programe. The initiative is co-headed by the Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC) and the French Nuclear Industry Association (GIFEN).

EDF and Westinghouse are looking at SMRs as a way of standardizing reactor construction after struggling with years of delay and billions of dollars of cost overruns on their big nuclear reactors, which have capacities upwards of 1,000 MW.

A new small modular reactor (SMR) design has been announced by the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA), EDF, Naval Group and TechnicAtome. The Nuward - with a capacity of 300-400 MWe - has been jointly developed using France's experience in pressurised water reactors (PWRs).

France's GDP growth is expected to stay moderate in the near term, reaching 1.3 percent this year and 1.4 percent in 2020, after slowing last year on the back of decelerating global growth and reduced slack.

It was pointed out that the French demand for Russian natural gas has been on the rise for the last four years.

Growth is expected to reach 1.3 percent this year and stabilize at around 1.5 percent in the medium term, predicated on a recovery of domestic and external demand and on gains from recent reforms.

Framatome, the French fuel and technology company said "two full fuel assemblies" of its Enhanced Accident Tolerant Fuel would be loaded at Exelon's Calvert Cliffs plant in February 2021.
