REUTERS - EU negotiators agreed on Thursday to increase the share of renewables in the bloc’s energy production to 32 percent by 2030, a higher target than in draft rules but short of the level sought by some governments and the European Parliament.

PENEWS - Blackstone Group LP is planning a first close this quarter on more than half of the roughly $4.5 billion it seeks for its third energy fund, according to a person familiar with the matter. The New York firm is raising the pool three years after it sealed $4.5 billion for its previous energy fund, people said.

U.S. DOE - Energy storage will play an increasingly critical role in the resilient grid of the future. Storage systems provide important services, including improving grid stability, providing backup power, and allowing for greater integration of renewable resources. Today’s dominant storage options have limitations that inhibit their use as long-duration solutions, particularly their high cost.

МИНЭКОНОМРАЗВИТИЯ РОССИИ - «Энергетика остается наиболее масштабной областью российско-японского экономического сотрудничества», – сообщил Максим Орешкин. Он подчеркнул, что Россия является надёжным партнёром для Японии в области СПГ. В последние годы доля российского газа в общем объеме поставок на рынок Японии находится на уровне не ниже 8%. При этом в январе текущего года Россия поставила на рынок Японии около 667 898 тонн СПГ, заняв пятую строчку среди основных экспортеров СПГ в эту страну, рассказал министр.

REUTERS - On Tuesday, Washington unveiled some $50 billion worth of proposed tariffs on Chinese imports and on Thursday Trump upped the ante, directing U.S. trade officials to identify tariffs on another $100 billion of Chinese imports. He said this was “in light of China’s unfair retaliation” against the earlier U.S. trade action. China responded by saying it was fully prepared to respond with a “fierce counter strike” if the United States followed through on the new threat.
