U.S. TRADE DEFICIT DOWN TO $128.2 BLN
The U.S. current account deficit, which reflects the combined balances on trade in goods and services and income flows between U.S. residents and residents of other countries, narrowed by $8.0 billion, or 5.9 percent, to $128.2 billion in the second quarter of 2019, according to statistics from the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA). The revised first quarter deficit was $136.2 billion.

PETROBRAS NET INCOME $1.3 BLN
Accounting net income excluding non-recurring factors was US$ 1.3 billion and operating cash flow reached US$ 5.2 billion. Advances in pre-salt exploration, with lower lifting cost (US$ 6/boe) and better quality of oil, allowed adjusted EBITDA per barrel of oil equivalent (boe) in the exploration & production (E&P) business to reach US$ 33.50 in 2Q19 against US$ 29.50 last year, despite the drop in average Brent oil prices from US$ 71.0 to US$ 68.8.

MODERATE STEPS OF RUSSIA'S BANK
At its last board meeting in June, the central bank considered holding the key rate and cutting it by 50 basis points but eventually trimmed it by 25 basis points to 7.50%, Nabiullina said. “Other things being equal, we are trying to move in moderate steps for the economy to adapt to our new decisions,” she said in an interview with Reuters cleared for publication on Wednesday.

U.S. FINANCIAL RISKS UP
In addition, a number of medium-term risks are growing. The financial system appears healthy but vulnerabilities in leveraged corporates and, potentially, in the nonbank system are elevated by historical standards. An abrupt reversal of the recent supportive financial market conditions or a deepening of ongoing trade disputes represent material risks to the U.S. economy, with concomitant negative outward spillovers. The U.S. public debt-to-GDP ratio is on an unsustainable path and is expected to continue rising throughout the medium-term, as aging related spending rises.
