U.S. OIL EXPORTS 2.9 MBD
In the first half of 2019, U.S. exports of crude oil increased to average 2.9 million barrels per day (b/d), an increase of 966,000 b/d from the first half of 2018.

U.S. COAL PRODUCTION DOWN 2.4%
U.S. coal production decreased 2.4% year over year to 756.2 million short tons (MMst). U.S. coal consumption decreased 4.0% from the 2017 level to 688.1 MMst. The electric power sector accounted for about 92.6% of the total U.S. coal consumed in 2018.

The Board of BP announced that, after a 40-year career with BP and over nine years as group chief executive, Bob Dudley, 64, has decided to step down as group chief executive and from the BP Board following delivery of the company’s 2019 full year results on 4 February 2020 and will retire on 31 March 2020.

U.S. RUSSIA, CHINA SANCTIONS
Treasury imposed sanctions on Moscow-based Maritime Assistance LLC, which it called a front company for Russian shipping company, Sovfracht, which has been subject to US sanctions since September 2016 for operating in Crimea. Russia annexed Crimea from Ukraine in March 2014, a move which is not recognized by most of the international community.

NUCLEAR POWER - 2050: UPDOWN
The new projections to 2030 see generating capacity declining by some 8% in the low case and increasing by 25% in the high estimate. By 2050, it’s seen falling by 6% in the low scenario and rising by 80% in the high case. Compared with last year, the new estimates to 2050 are down by 33 GW(e) in the high case and up by 15 GW(e) in the low case.

ECUADOR LEAVES OPEC
The country produced 530,000 b/d of oil in August, down from 540,000 b/d in July. Ecuador's output quota was set at 508,000 b/d under a 1.2 million b/d supply cut agreement, which went into force January 1 and runs through March 2020. Ecuador reported August production of 550,000 to OPEC.
