U.S. exports of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to Europe have increased substantially since October 2018, averaging 1.9 billion cubic feet per day (Bcf/d) in the winter of 2018–19 compared with 0.1 Bcf/d in the winter of 2017–18.

Year-to-date, the goods and services deficit increased $4.1 billion, or 2.0 percent, from the same period in 2018. Exports increased $8.3 billion or 1.0 percent. Imports increased $12.4 billion or 1.2 percent.

Brent crude futures were at $60.50 at 0108 GMT. That was 13 cents, or 0.2%, below last session’s close. WTI crude futures were at $51.62 per barrel, 6 cents, or 0.1%, below their last settlement.

Over the last decade Russia and China have significantly increased their energy links, with Russia ramping up supplies of crude and gas, and attracting Chinese investment into major new energy projects.

US crude oil inventories for the week ended May 31, excluding the Strategic Petroleum Reserve, increased by 6.8 million bbl from the previous week, according to data from the US Energy Information Administration.

The new analysis finds that, on average, the levelised cost of electricity from the coal fleet is less than the levelised cost of new natural gas combined cycle (NGCC), new wind and new solar.

Brent futures were down 42 cents, or 0.7%, at $61.55 a barrel by 0552 GMT. U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude was down by 48 cents, or 0.9%, at $53 a barrel.

This was up 8.7% month on month from April imports of 1.62 million mt, and 20.9% higher from a year earlier. About 94.5% of the Russian imports were ESPO blend, with just one cargo of 96,000-mt of Sokol.

Owners and operators of US civilian nuclear power reactors purchased a total of 40 million pounds U3O8 equivalent (U3O8e) (15,386 tU) of deliveries during 2018, according to the latest uranium marketing report from the US Energy Information Administration (EIA). Nearly 10% of that was US-origin uranium.

Front-month Brent crude futures were at $60.96 at 0844 GMT, down $1.03 or 1.7% below Friday’s close. Prices had dropped by more than 3% on Friday, with May recording the biggest monthly loss in six months. U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures were at $52.98 per barrel, down 52 cents, or 1%.
